As soon as strawberry season begins in Georgia (usually April), we head to one of our local pick-your-own farms.

After we’ve filled our buckets and our bellies with lots of sweet, perfect berries – we come home to figure out what we are going to make with them. Always at the top of the list is homemade strawberry ice cream. Honestly, if you’ve never had homemade strawberry ice cream then you haven’t really tasted strawberry ice cream. It is bursting with strawberry flavor! So today I thought I’d share our favorite strawberry ice cream recipe for your family to enjoy this spring and summer! homemade-strawberry-ice-cream homemade-strawberry-ice-cream-in-mugs Making this strawberry ice cream recipe is so simple because it does not require any cooking at all. All you need are basic pantry ingredients and an ice cream maker.

Homemade Strawberry Ice Cream Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2.5 cups coarsely pureed fresh strawberries

Directions:

Stem and hull your strawberries. Then, coarsely puree in a blender or food processor or by hand using a potato masher.

In a large bowl, mix together pureed strawberries and the rest of the ingredients until well combined.
