Green Coconut Mango Smoothie

It’s St. Patrick’s Day and while many people are waking up planning where to celebrate with green beer, we have a healthier green start planned for our day. This delicious, green coconut mango smoothie comes from one of our favorite bloggers, Julia of San Diego Songbird. The recipe is one of her latest go-to breakfasts and our taste buds thank her for sharing it with us!

Really though, who doesn’t love a good smoothie? They’re quick, easy, and the endless combos of ingredients will definitely satisfy anyone’s creative palate. This combo breaks out of the standard strawberry banana variety and uses sweet mango and coconut flakes. Very tropical, which will also have you daydreaming of the islands – an excellent, uplifting bonus in our opinion. Julia likes to use the coconut flakes because they mask any potentially bitter ingredients like kale or spinach. She also suggests using frozen mango when you can’t find good ones in season. The other great thing about this recipe is that even though the flavors are unique, you can still find all of the ingredients at your regular supermarket. No hunting down strange items at specialty (aka expensive) health food stores.

Here’s what you need:

  • 3 leaves of organic kale (or spinach)
  • ½ cup of coconut flakes
  • 2 cups of organic mango (fresh or frozen)
  • 1.5 cups of coconut water (or 1 small 11oz carton)
  • ½ cup of almond milk
