We love it when Julia from San Diego Songbird shares one of her delicious, healthy and EASY recipes with us. For summer, she came up with this amazing, guilt-free version of banana ice cream.
This recipe is brilliant because:
- You can laugh in swimsuit season’s face.
- Your kids will be eating real fruit with no added sugar (and loving it).
- If you practice clean eating, you’re still on track.
- Did we already say it’s delicious and easy?
Here’s Julia’s recipe:
MAIN INGREDIENT:
2 frozen ripe bananas will yield one serving of ice cream. And that’s it. It’s a miracle.
Pro tip: once your bananas are ripe, slice them up and throw them in the freezer.
HOW TO:
Literally all you have to do is stick the bananas in a high-powered blender (I use a Vitamix and it’s the greatest thing in the world) and blend until smooth. The texture is just like sorbet. Your kids won’t even realize it’s not regular ice cream. Cross my heart.
EXTRAS:
The fun part is adding anything else into the blender! I like to add 5 to 7 fresh strawberries or half a cup of mango. Experiment with your favorite fruits or add some almond butter or coconut!
TOPPINGS:
To keep in on the lighter side, keep these minimal. I like to add the following:
- 1/4 cup of clean granola
- 1/4 cup of coconut shreds
- 2 tablespoons of almonds
Tell me how you mix yours up… I need new ideas!
