The most common place to hang the stockings with care is by the chimney, but what if you don’t have one? Does that mean the stockings have to spend the holidays in the attic? Of course not. There are still ways to include them as part of your festive décor. Choose a Wall My grandparents’ house didn’t have a chimney. So, without a fireplace, they would put up the stockings on the living room wall. Each year they would form a different holiday shape. One year it was a snowman. Another year it was a reindeer. (Sort of.) Eventually they came to realize that a Christmas tree was their favorite option. It was easy to recreate and quite festive, too. Pick a Shelf Hopefully I’m not making any foolish assumptions, but chances are you have some sort of shelf in your living room. Use it! Gather up a few books, potted plants or that handy paper weight you got when you were snowed-in at the airport. (You know, the one with the plastic palm tree inside it? The one that you look at each time and think why did I get this? Oh, right, snowed-in.) Simply line up the stockings along the shelf and use any one of those items to keep them from falling down. Try the TV Stand Let’s say you don't have an available wall. Why move around the décor if it’s positioned just right? And let’s say my assumption was totally off, and the only bookshelf you have is in the office. Don’t worry. All is not lost. Stockings add a merry and bright look to your favorite shows when you hang them on the TV stand. So, if you don’t have a chimney, no problem. Get creative and you can still enjoy the splendor of stockings each and every holiday season. |
